Fix Claude Blank Screen and Loading Issues
You are staring at a blank screen on Claude.ai and nothing you click seems to bring the interface back. This is almost always caused by corrupted temporary files stored in your browser that are preventing the site from rendering correctly.
Why this happens
Your browser is holding onto stale or corrupted cache files and cookies from previous sessions. Clearing these forces your browser to pull a clean, fresh version of the site from the server.
What you'll need
You just need access to your browser settings menu. Note that this process will sign you out of all currently active websites.
Steps
-
01Open your browser menu by clicking the three dots or lines in the top right corner and select History or Privacy settings.
-
02Choose the option for Clear browsing data and set the time range to All time to ensure all stale files are removed.
-
03Check only the boxes for Cookies and other site data and Cached images and files, then click Delete data.
-
04Navigate to https://claude.ai and press Enter to force your browser to download a fresh copy of the site interface.
-
05Sign back into your account to confirm that the chat interface loads normally.
Still not working?
If you are still seeing a blank screen, try opening Claude in an Incognito or Private window to see if an extension is interfering. If it works there, you have a browser extension blocking the site scripts and you should disable your extensions one by one to find the culprit.
Frequently asked questions
Will I lose my chat history if I clear my cache?
No, your chat history is saved on Claude's servers, not in your browser cache. You will retain all your previous conversations once you sign back in.
Why does this happen even if I didn't change any settings?
Websites push updates frequently, and if your browser tries to use an old cached file with a new version of the site code, it can cause the interface to hang or display as a blank screen.
