The Finals Voice Chat Not Working Fix
Your teammates cannot hear your callouts because voice chat in The Finals is disabled by default. You need to flip the switch in the social menu, but if that does not resolve it, Windows or your console privacy settings are likely blocking the game from accessing your microphone.
Why this happens
The game defaults to having voice chat turned off, or your microphone is being intercepted by another background application like Discord.
What you will need
Administrative access to your PC and, if you are on console, access to your account privacy and online safety settings.
Steps
-
01Open the in-game Settings menu, go to the Social tab, select Chat, and toggle Enable Voice Chat to On.
-
02In the same menu, set your preferred mode to Push-to-Talk, Toggle-to-Talk, or Open Mic and confirm the keybind is set (default is Z).
-
03Press the Windows key, go to Privacy and Security, select Microphone, and ensure 'Let desktop apps access your microphone' is turned on.
-
04Return to the in-game Voice Chat menu and ensure the Voice Chat Input Device is specifically set to your headset.
-
05Press Windows + X, open Task Manager, and end task on Discord or any other app that might be holding your microphone hostage.
-
06Type 'Device Manager' into your search bar, expand 'Audio inputs and outputs', right-click your microphone, and select Update driver.
-
07If playing on Xbox, navigate to Profile and System > Settings > Account > Privacy and Online Safety > Xbox Privacy and set Communication and Multiplayer to Everybody.
-
08To rule out network interference, search for 'Control Panel', go to Network and Sharing Center > Change adapter settings, right-click your connection, select Properties, and uncheck 'Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)'.
Still not working?
If you are still unable to communicate, try setting your DNS to a public provider like Google (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) or Cloudflare (1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1) through your network adapter properties. If only voice chat in The Finals fails while Discord works fine, verify your game files through the launcher to ensure no audio modules were corrupted during installation.
Frequently asked questions
Do my teammates also need to enable voice chat?
Yes. If they have the setting turned off on their end, they will not be able to hear you even if your microphone is working perfectly.
Will disabling IPv6 cause issues with other games?
Generally, no. Most modern games and services function perfectly fine over IPv4, and disabling IPv6 is a common troubleshooting step for connectivity issues in multiplayer titles.
